Thomas Cleveland Ellis :-Thomas arrived in South Australia Circa 1850 from Cornwall England. He married Priscilla in 1857 and worked in mining in the Burra SA, and at Broken Hill, NSW. Thomas & Priscilla travelled to Norseman WA in December 1895. He worked as Underground manager at the Norseman Reward. The company working this mine closed down in 1899 and Thomas applied for and was granted the lease for the Norseman reward mine in September 1899. He named the mine “Priscilla”. Articles in the "Norseman Times" indicate he worked this mine with one of his sons. Possibly Thomas junior who would be appointed underground manager at Menzies consolidated Goldmines in 1907. Norseman WA Government Battery reports he worked the mine till his death in 1904. He is buried in the Norseman Cemetery. Reproduced with kind permission of:- Gary Cowans
